Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) achieved EPC Contract worth Rs. 15,000 Crore from NLC India Limited for Thermal Power project in Odisha

Integrated Lignite, Coal Mining and Power Generation Company NLC India Limited has Awarded around Rs. 15,000 Crore Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract to the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, also known as BHEL for 2,400 Mega Watt Pit Head Green field Thermal Power Project in the state of Odisha, the Two companies told.

In a regulatory information, NLC India said the 2,400 Mega Watt (3×800 MW) Pit Head Power Project will come up at Jharsuguda District of Odisha based on Ultra Super Critical Technology. EPC Contract scope includes Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply, Erection and Commissioning of Equipments such as Boilers, Turbines, Generators, Balance of plants and other necessary equipments. Boilers will be designed to suite the co-firing of Bio mass as part of Green initiative.

The entire Power of 2,400 Mega Watt is tied up with the states of Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Kerala and Puducherry and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) already executed, NLC India said. The coal linkage is available from 20 MTPA Talabira II & III OCP mines of NLC India which is already operational from the year 2020 in Jharsuguda and Sambalpur Districts of Odisha. According to BHEL, the Equipments for the Project will be made and manufactured at its Trichy, Haridwar, Hyderabad, Jhansi, Bengaluru, Ranipet, Bhopal, Rudrapur and Varanasi factories.
