Kurung Kumey district police have issued an appeal to the public for assistance in identifying a deceased individual whose decomposed body was discovered near the Kurung river bank in Laying under Sangram Police station. Kurung Kumey SP Bomken Bassar stated that the police received information about the body around 8 AM on Sunday and promptly dispatched a team to the location. Upon arrival, they found an unidentified body floating in the Kurung river at Layign area under Sangram police station. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the body was retrieved from the scene.
A case has been registered at Sangram Police station under SGM/PS/UD Case No-01/2024 u/s-174 CrPc, and an investigation is underway. The inquest was conducted in the presence of a magistrate, and post-mortem examination (PME) has been carried out by medical professionals.
Efforts to identify the deceased include sharing messages and information with nearby police stations in the district and neighboring districts, along with a photograph for identification purposes.
