Protest turns symbolic, Cake cutting ceremony amid Black Day observance in Arunachal

Amidst the somber backdrop of Black Day observance, the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) orchestrated a symbolic protest, marked by a unique cake-cutting ceremony. Commemorating the one-year anniversary of the APPSC paper leakage scandal, PAJSC organized a ‘Pushtak Jalao Andolan’ to highlight the government’s inadequate response to their 12-point demands.

As part of the protest, books were burnt at the proposed site for Gyamar Padang’s statue in 6 Mile location, symbolizing dissatisfaction with the authorities’ handling of the issue. The protest, set to continue until the upcoming Statehood Day celebration, also calls for a boycott of the said event.

The focal point of the protest came during the cake-cutting ceremony at Mowb 1 park, where 63 cakes were cut, representing the 60 legislative members and 3 MPs of Arunachal Pradesh. Tadak Nalo, vice chairman of PAJSC, underscored the significance of the ceremony, stating, “It symbolizes the collective failure of the ministers to address the paper leakage scandal. The silence of MLAs during the recent assembly session speaks volumes, and even the MPs’ efforts have been minimal.”
