Arunachal Pradesh leads the way, ranked No. 1 in Northeast for JJM scheme implementation

Chief Minister Pema Khandu proudly announced that Arunachal Pradesh has achieved a remarkable milestone, securing the top position among Northeastern states in implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme. With a 100% saturation rate, Arunachal Pradesh stands tall as the tenth state in the country to accomplish full coverage under the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ initiative, a significant feat applauded by the state’s Public Health Engineering department. Khandu commended the collective efforts of Team Arunachal, emphasizing their unwavering dedication and commitment to achieving set targets.

The substantial financial boost from both the Centre and the state, totaling Rs 396541.22 lakh and Rs 45551.18 lakh respectively, ensured the provision of clean and safe piped water to every household across the state. Proudly declaring Arunachal Pradesh as the first in the Northeast to fully implement JJM, Khandu reiterated the government’s resolve to enhance the quality of life for its people. Despite challenges, the state remains steadfast in its mission to serve its citizens, striving for all-round improvement and progress.

Launched in 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water to rural households through individual tap connections by 2024. Arunachal Pradesh’s exemplary achievement underscores its commitment to ensuring access to clean water, a fundamental right essential for the well-being of its residents.
