Tata Motors and NJMS are leading the campaign against Leprosy

In an alliance aimed at advancing social impact, Tata Motors joins forces with Nav Jagrat Manav Samaj (NJMS), a non-profit organization, to spearhead efforts in eradicating leprosy. With a steadfast commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), Tata Motors is leveraging its resources to support NJMS’s initiatives in Jamshedpur and its environs.

NJMS, known for its relentless dedication to leprosy prevention and control, has achieved remarkable milestones with Tata Motors’ backing. The organization’s annual door-to-door survey, engaging over 500 local volunteers including Tata Motors employees, has been instrumental in detecting early cases of leprosy among 75,000 individuals. Through this concerted effort, the incidence rate has plummeted from 1.5 to 0.5 persons per 1000 in just three years. The partnership extends beyond healthcare, as NJMS operates Antyoday Bhawan, providing essential medical care, boarding, and lodging to over 4000 leprosy patients. Furthermore, the organization supports educational and livelihood initiatives for affected individuals, underscoring Tata Motors’ holistic approach to social welfare.

Vinod Kulkarni, CSR Head at Tata Motors, emphasizes the company’s commitment, stating, “Tata Motors is proud to collaborate with NJMS in its mission to eradicate leprosy. This partnership exemplifies our dedication to making a tangible difference in the communities we serve.”
