Training on millet cultivation conducted in Shernup village, Tawang

A Farmers’ Training Programme focusing on the Scientific Cultivation and Processing of Millets was organized today at Shernup Village in Kydphel Circle, Tawang. Facilitated by the District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Toli Bam, the event was part of the Budget Announcement for 2023-24 aimed at promoting millet cultivation in the district. DAO Toli Bam provided insights into the expansion of millet cultivation areas within the district, emphasizing the importance of adopting modern agricultural practices for enhanced crop production.

K.B. Kayastha, an Entomologist from Tawang, served as a resource person, enlightening farmers on the best practices for scientific millet cultivation. He urged farmers to embrace High Yielding Varieties to maximize crop yield and discussed the processing and marketing opportunities associated with millet products.

Tashi Panden, the Assistant Development Officer (ADO) of Kydphel, also addressed the gathering, sharing valuable insights and encouraging active participation from the farmers. The interactive session allowed farmers to seek clarification on various aspects of millet cultivation, fostering an environment of knowledge exchange and collaboration.
