Bolstered by thousands, Pani Taram takes on incumbent MLA in Koloriang

Thousands of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters from Kurung Kumey district extended a warm welcome to Pani Taram, the BJP candidate contesting from the Koloriang assembly constituency situated near the Indo-China border. Challenging the incumbent MLA Lokam Tassar, who has held office for 15 years, Pani Taram brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as the MLA of Koloriang from 2014 to 2019. Departing from his role as an officer in horticulture in 2013 to enter the political arena, Taram previously held the position of Parliamentary Secretary of Education in the BJP-led government under Pema Khandu before 2019.

Addressing the media, Taram outlined his vision for the development of Koloriang, emphasizing its vast potential in various sectors including tourism and culture. He highlighted the constituency’s unique attributes, describing it as the “new Cherrapunjee of Northeast India,” blessed with rich flora, fauna, and experiencing heavy snowfall in upper areas alongside significant rainfall.

Expressing his commitment to serving all constituents regardless of their political affiliations, Taram appealed to fellow BJP leaders in the constituency to rally behind his candidacy. He underscored the urgent need to address issues such as booth capturing, violence, and law and order breakdown that have plagued Koloriang during past elections.
