SWITCH Mobility launches two new low-floor electric city buses—EiV12 and E1

SWITCH Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, unveiled its latest electric bus platform SWITCH EiV12 for the Indian market. Launched by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the low-floor electric city bus features chassis-mounted batteries with over 400 kWh capacity and can seat up to 39 passengers.

Simultaneously, the company virtually flagged off the SWITCH E1 for the European market. The buses share a common EV architecture and are designed with advanced features like CCTV cameras, wheelchair accessibility, and real-time vehicle health monitoring.

Mr. Mahesh Babu, CEO of SWITCH Mobility, highlighted the company’s significant market traction, with 1,800 orders already received. The company aims to contribute to India’s electric mobility vision, with the electric city bus market expected to grow at 21% CAGR by 2030. The launch underscores the Hinduja Group’s commitment to sustainable transportation and the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
