Nagaland confirms no suspension of health schemes

The Nagaland Health Protection Society has dispelled concerns about the suspension of services under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), confirming their uninterrupted availability across the state. The confusion stemmed from a miscommunication involving the Insurance Company (FGI), which has since been resolved. The Department clarified that all empanelled hospitals are instructed to continue providing cashless healthcare services under both schemes, as per the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Highlighting the impact of the schemes, the Department disclosed that for FY 2023-24, Rs. 53.64 crores were disbursed under PM-JAY and CMHIS (General), and Rs. 34.54 crores under CMHIS (EP) within Nagaland. Additionally, Rs. 7.80 crores were paid for treatments outside the state. For FY 2024-25, Rs. 38.92 crores under PM-JAY and CMHIS (General) and Rs. 33.52 crores under CMHIS (EP) have already been allocated. The Department expressed concerns about alleged fraudulent practices by certain empanelled hospitals, including financial exploitation of vulnerable patients. An investigation is underway, with assurances of strict action against violators to maintain the integrity of the schemes.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to verify their eligibility and access cashless services at empanelled hospitals. Any upfront payment demands or unethical practices should be reported to the toll-free helpline at 1800-202-3380. The Department also urged hospitals to avoid issuing premature suspension notices without confirmation from competent authorities, emphasizing that such actions cause unnecessary public confusion.
