In a major push for infrastructure development, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated 14 completed projects worth ₹102 crore and laid the foundation stone for 21 new initiatives valued at ₹126 crore in the Kalaktang constituency of West Kameng district.

The announcements were made during a high-level meeting held in Shergaon, attended by Home Minister Mama Natung, Kalaktang MLA Tseten Chombay, BJP state president Kaling Moyong, former Speaker and NEC member TN Thongdok, and panchayat representatives from the four circles of Kalaktang. The discussions focused on the region’s key infrastructure and developmental needs.

One of the major projects under consideration is the Shergaon to Mandala Top road, which is currently under survey by the Public Works Department (PWD). Officials stated that necessary approvals for the project are expected soon. Another crucial demand is the Shergaon to Doimara road, for which a memorandum was submitted by the Sherdukpen community. The PWD has been tasked with conducting a feasibility study and submitting a report on its implementation.

Addressing concerns over water supply, CM Khandu assured that steps are being taken to secure funding for a centralized water project for Kalaktang and Rupa. Authorities have already received the proposal and are working toward its early execution.

The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting sports infrastructure, announcing that a stadium will be built in Shergaon to encourage young athletes.

Khandu commended the unity and shared vision of the Sherdukpen and Monpa communities, highlighting their role in driving development in Kalaktang. He reiterated that the government remains committed to ensuring holistic progress in the region, with more initiatives planned in the coming months.
