A ruptured ectopic pregnancy was successfully managed by the Bomdil GH team

The staff at General Hospital (GH) Bomdila saved the life of a young woman in near-fatal condition by effectively managing a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, demonstrating medical expertise and coordinated emergency action. The patient had collapsed veins, a severely low hemoglobin level of 5.2 g/dL, and was in hemorrhagic shock when they arrived at the hospital, making venous access very challenging. Severe winter weather and a lack of Operation Theatre (OT) staff contributed to the already dire circumstances of the high-stakes emergency. The OT and gynecology departments replied remarkably quickly in spite of these obstacles.

With vital assistance from the hospital’s anesthesia team and blood bank, an emergency laparotomy was quickly carried out, allowing for the patient’s stabilization and prompt blood transfusion. Senior Anaesthesiologist Dr. Ani Siram and Gynecologist Dr. Leena Ligu oversaw the procedure, with assistance from OT Assistants Ms. Yalek Siram and Mr. Lobsang and OT Nursing Officers Ms. Pema Chuki, Ms. Namge, and Ms. Radha. The patient’s life was saved because of the outstanding teamwork and clinical expertise of the medical staff, which is evidence of the hospital’s dedication to provide vital care in even the most difficult and restrictive circumstances.
