Anjaw deputy commissioner Millo Kojin conducted a high-level readiness meeting on Wednesday in anticipation of the South West Monsoon and possible hot temperatures. Superintendent of Police Rike Kamsi, Hayuliang ADC Julity Mihu, administrative officers, department heads, disaster management officials, and representatives from the police, health, and civil society sectors were among the important stakeholders who attended the meeting.
Speaking at the event, Kojin underlined the need for proactive preparation and smooth departmental collaboration in order to successfully address issues like road obstructions, floods, landslides, and heat-related health hazards that frequently accompany the monsoon season. In order to guarantee prompt and effective emergency reaction, he emphasized the necessity of a thorough action plan and the readiness of all available resources. Every department was directed to provide the district disaster management officer (DDMO) with updated inventories of personnel, vehicles, equipment, and emergency supplies.
He claimed that during any crisis, this data will serve as the foundation for quick response activities. Early warning systems, community awareness campaigns, evacuation protocols, and the creation of specialized quick response teams were among the topics covered during the meeting, which centered on clearly identifying the duties and responsibilities of each department. The PWD and BRO were instructed to place earth-moving machinery in places susceptible to landslides, while the health department was entrusted with making sure that necessary medications and medical personnel were available in areas that were at risk.
