Arunachal Deputy CM inaugurates APUFEST 2024 with high hopes for higher education

The vibrant inaugural ceremony of the premier Annual Festival APUFEST 2024 at Arunachal Pradesh University (APU), Pasighat, with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.In his address to the assembled crowd, Deputy Chief Minister Mein underscored the profound expectations of the people of Arunachal Pradesh from the lone state-owned university, emphasizing its pivotal role in advancing higher education opportunities for the youth. He pledged unwavering governmental support towards fostering innovative fields of study and research within the university. Highlighting the critical initial years for any institution’s development, Mein revealed significant government investments, including an initial funding of Rs 17.45 Cr in 2018-19 for infrastructure enhancement and Rs 279 Lakhs allocated in the fiscal year 2023-24 for the construction of an Academic Block. Additionally, the State Government provided Grants-in-Aids amounting to Rs. 10 Cr, urging the judicious utilization of these resources for campus development.

In his message to the students, Mein stressed the importance of cultivating discipline and ethical work ethics within the university community. He emphasized the values of discipline, regularity, honesty, and sincerity as fundamental to creating an academic environment conducive to holistic growth, which could serve as a benchmark for other institutions. Commencing its academic journey in 2023, APU aims to elevate the standards of higher education in the state, currently offering post-graduate courses in Commerce and Arts (Economics, Education, Social Work & Tribal Studies).

The university is steadfast in its mission to broaden academic, research, and entrepreneurial horizons, aspiring to become a hub of excellence, nurturing future leaders and fostering innovation in higher education. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Arunachal East MP (Lok Sabha) Tapir Gao, MLAs Kaling Moyong & Kento Rina, Chief Councillor of Pasighat Municipal Council Okiam Moyong Borang, DC East Siang Tayi Taggu, SP East Siang Sumit Kr. Jha, and Vice Chancellor of Arunachal Pradesh University, Prof. Tomo Riba, among others.
