Dettol Banega Swasth India drives hygiene equity, educates 30 million children on Global Handwashing Day

Reckitt’s flagship initiative, Dettol Banega Swasth India (BSI), commemorated Global Handwashing Day 2024 by educating 30 million children nationwide on the critical importance of hand hygiene. Under the theme “Clean Hands for All: Advancing Health Equity through Hygiene,” this year’s campaign underscores BSI’s commitment to providing essential hygiene knowledge to children from various backgrounds.

The campaign, supported by over 100 partners, successfully reached children in 29 states and 7 union territories through the Dettol School Hygiene Education programme. Participation included a diverse range of schools, such as Sarvodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas. In a significant innovation, BSI launched an AI-powered chatbot, “Hygieia For Good Hygiene,” available in seven languages to enhance accessibility.

In Kohima, local schools have eagerly embraced the campaign, recognizing its importance in fostering hygiene awareness among children. Market stakeholders emphasize the initiative’s relevance, noting that improved hygiene practices can lead to healthier communities. The local response reflects a growing commitment to integrating hygiene education into daily routines, ultimately enhancing the overall health landscape.
