Godrej Agrovet rolls out winter strategy to boost fish farming in challenging seasons

Godrej Agrovet Limited has launched an innovative winter strategy aimed at addressing the critical challenges faced by fish farmers in West Bengal during the colder months. Declining water temperatures impact fish metabolism and nutrient absorption, causing physiological stress and reduced productivity.

The strategy is built around a multi-faceted approach that includes digital campaigns, community engagement, and sustainable farming practices. Dhrubajyoti Bannerjee, CEO of the Aquafeed Business at Godrej Agrovet, highlighted the initiative’s potential, stating, “By leveraging digital platforms and community-driven initiatives, we’re creating a comprehensive ecosystem that empowers farmers to navigate the most challenging seasonal constraints.”

Key components include the Matsya Margadarshan campaign, which provides expert advice via social media platforms, and the Aqua Mitra series, which fosters knowledge-sharing among farmers. Additionally, the Godrej Aqua Insiders initiative focuses on sustainability, green practices, and empowering women in aquaculture. In North 24 Parganas, a prominent fish farming hub, the initiative is expected to bring significant benefits. Farmers in the region are optimistic about using digital tools and scientific methods to enhance productivity during winter, aligning with the area’s growing demand for sustainable practices.
