Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has established its 67th Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) at the Government Industrial Training Institute in Aizwal, Mizoram. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Mizoram government and Zote Toyota, includes a new scholarship program called STAR (Scholarship Program for Technical Education and Recognition) to support economically disadvantaged students.
The program will provide technical training in automotive skills to final-year ITI and Diploma students, with TKM investing over Rs 1.5 million in infrastructure and training resources. Since T-TEP’s inception in 2006, over 13,000 students have been trained, with more than 70% finding employment in the automotive sector. The program will expand to cover 10 additional states and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The launch event was attended by Mr. Lalnghinglova Hmar, Mizoram’s Minister of State for Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, who praised the initiative’s role in supporting the state’s vision for skill development and economic empowerment.
