Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reinforced its pan-India road safety mission, with over 10 lakh people impacted through educational, community-based, and tech-driven programs. The Toyota Safety Education Program (TSEP), launched in 2007, remains the flagship initiative—educating school children from classes 5 to 9 across 140 schools using creative methods like skits, campaigns, and Road Safety Clubs. Nearly 9.3 lakh students have participated since FY23, guided by 1,643 trained educators.
In addition to TSEP, the Toyota Hackathon engages students from classes 7 to 12 in solving real-world traffic issues, resulting in over 350 innovative concepts from 77,200 students in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore.
TKM has also set up seven Traffic Parks and introduced ANPR systems and CCTV cameras in Mizoram, enhancing compliance and road safety for over 4 lakh users. With growing vehicular traffic and limited road safety infrastructure, local educators and civic groups are advocating for similar school-based awareness and driver training programs to ensure sustainable urban growth.
