Nissan Magnite’s 2 lakh global sales reflect India’s manufacturing strength, consumer shift to value mobility

Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd.’s announcement that its compact SUV, the Nissan Magnite, has surpassed 2,00,000 cumulative sales globally underscores a broader economic narrative—India’s rising role in global automobile exports and the domestic consumer shift toward affordable, fuel-efficient mobility. Launched in 2020 under the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision, the Magnite now retails in over 65 countries, contributing to 71,000 export units and 28,000 domestic units in FY2024-25, marking Nissan’s best annual performance in seven years with over 99,000 units sold.

In line with evolving fuel policy and consumer demand, Nissan has launched a government-approved CNG retrofit kit priced at ₹74,999 for the 1.0L petrol MT variant, enhancing energy efficiency and cost savings. The move aligns with national priorities for cleaner, low-cost alternatives amid rising fuel prices.

The capital of Mizoram, local dealers report rising interest in the Magnite, especially among cost-sensitive urban families and small business owners. The SUV’s compact build suits hilly terrains, while the CNG option addresses fuel affordability, supporting regional economic resilience. With three new models—including a 7-seater MPV—set to launch by FY2026, Nissan aims to further align with India’s high-growth, policy-driven mobility landscape.
