Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma emphasized the state government’s commitment to uplifting farmers through targeted programs and policies during the 4th Organic Youth Summit in Shillong. He stated that farmers play a crucial role in the state’s agricultural agenda and that various mission programs are designed to support them. The summit also hosted the 1st Northeast India Organic Week cum Buyer Seller Meet, promoting a continuous effort to assist farmers even beyond the event. He highlighted that organic farming is rooted in traditional practices of ancestors, which the state aims to celebrate.
The CM mentioned the importance of integrating tourism, agriculture, and organic farming, proposing that tourism initiatives align with the organic mission and entrepreneurship programs. Sangma expressed optimism that the summit would foster global knowledge sharing and networking regarding organic practices. Interactions with international participants focused on the state’s vision for young organic entrepreneurs, with the release of the Organic Meghalaya Compendium and the launch of the Megnolia website to support these initiatives.
