ULFA-I Insurgency Hit as Two Hardcore Members Lay Down Arms

The Ulfa-I faced another setback when two of its members, identified as Bhargab Hazarika alias Ban Asom and Astitva Axom, surrendered to security forces in Namsai district, Arunachal Pradesh. These militants, trained in Myanmar, fled from their camp and crossed the international border to surrender. Following their surrender, they were taken to Tinsukia district in Assam for further questioning and legal actions. This incident marks the second significant loss for Ulfa-I within a month, following the earlier surrender of Arunodoi Dohutia, a close associate of the group’s leader, Paresh Baruah, along with his bodyguard on November 23.
