BJP corporator from Ward No. 16, Likha Nari Tadar, was sworn in as the first woman Mayor of Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Monday. Tok Tabin Camdir, who represents Ward No. 19, also took oath with her as the Deputy Mayor during the first meeting of the newly elected IMC. Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja and Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso attended the ceremony. Congratulating the new Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and all corporators, Minister Raja urged them to serve with sincerity, integrity, and dedication. The Minister advised the IMC leadership to focus on revenue generation instead of depending solely on government schemes, stating that financial strength is vital for effective ward-level development. He also emphasized prioritizing sanitation, waste management, roads, drainage, transparency, and grievance redressal. Expressing gratitude to the people, Tadar said her priority would be improving urban infrastructure, cleanliness, and efficient delivery of municipal services across all wards.
