Vivek Oberoi Unveiled as Villain in Prabhas’ ‘Spirit’

The anticipation for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming action-epic Spirit reached a fever pitch this week as the makers officially introduced Vivek Oberoi as the film’s primary antagonist. In a striking first-look poster released on February 27, 2026, Vivek is seen in an intense, menacing avatar—donning a dark robe and sunglasses, smoking a cigar, and wielding a curved sword. This casting marks a significant “comeback” for the actor, who is expected to engage in a high-stakes face-off with pan-India superstar Prabhas. Director Vanga, known for his uncompromising and gritty character designs in Animal and Kabir Singh, seems to have crafted another formidable villain, putting to rest long-standing rumors that South Korean star Don Lee would play the role. Adding a fresh layer of intrigue to the cinematic universe, the poster also introduces newcomer Aishwarya Desai. The Indian-American model and actress, previously seen in a minor role in Gully Boy, is depicted in a fierce, dark-toned setting alongside Vivek, hinting that her character will play a pivotal and possibly negative role in the narrative.

Spirit is already being hailed as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema, featuring Prabhas in the role of a fierce police officer struggling with “one bad habit.” Produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, the film also stars Triptii Dimri as the female lead, replacing earlier reports of Deepika Padukone’s involvement. The movie’s promotional campaign has focused on a raw, moody aesthetic, with an earlier audio teaser featuring Prabhas’ commanding voice as a former IPS officer turned remand prisoner. Written, edited, and directed by Vanga, the project aims to be a global entertainer and is scheduled for a massive release in eight languages on March 5, 2027. With Vivek Oberoi’s addition to the cast, the film promises a deeply atmospheric and explosive theatrical experience, building on the director’s reputation for creating polarized, larger-than-life characters that dominate the box office and cultural conversation
