Ambuja Cements, Adani Foundation provide RO water filters to 215 families in Umrangso

Ambuja Cements, part of the diversified Adani Portfolio and the world’s ninth-largest building materials solutions provider, along with the Adani Foundation, has launched a community health initiative to improve access to safe drinking water in Tharvelangso village of Umrangso in Assam. The initiative was undertaken as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to address the persistent problem of contaminated water sources in the region, which had been causing repeated cases of diarrhoea and other stomach-related illnesses among villagers.

During 2025–26, Ambuja Cements and the Adani Foundation distributed reverse osmosis (RO) water filters to 215 families across three core villages. The intervention aims to ensure safe drinking water at the household level and reduce the risk of water-borne diseases.

Residents say the initiative has already begun improving health conditions in the community. Mrs. Ruptalin Engtipi, a resident of Tharvelangso village, said her family of six had been facing frequent health issues earlier. Each instance required travelling nearly 17 km to the civil hospital in Umrangso, with travel costs of about ₹1,500 and around ₹3,000 spent on medicines. With access to clean drinking water at home, villagers report a significant reduction in water-borne illnesses. The initiative has also lowered medical expenses and reduced hospital visits, strengthening health security and improving quality of life for families in the area.
