Pistol, Ammunition Recovered from Suspected Insurgent in Khonsa

Security forces arrested a suspected insurgent linked to the banned National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khango faction), or NSCN(K), during an operation in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district.

The militant was apprehended from Khonsa town following a joint search operation carried out by the Assam Rifles and the Arunachal Pradesh Police. Officials said the operation was launched after security agencies received specific intelligence about the presence of an insurgent in the area.

According to officials, the search was conducted in the Bank Colony area of Khonsa on March 8. During the operation, the joint team located and detained the suspect, who was later identified as self-styled sergeant Puman Pansa, believed to be associated with the NSCN(K) outfit.

Security personnel also recovered a pistol, three live rounds of ammunition and a mobile handset from his possession. The seized items have been taken into custody as part of the investigation.

After the arrest, the militant was handed over to the local police for further legal procedures. Officials said he is currently being interrogated by security agencies. Investigators are trying to gather more information about the activities of the militant group in the region and any possible links to other insurgent networks.

Authorities believe the interrogation may help security agencies understand the movement and plans of insurgent groups operating in the border areas.

Tirap district, which shares a border with Nagaland, has witnessed insurgent activity in the past. Security forces regularly conduct search and combing operations in the region to prevent militant movement and maintain law and order.
