Jeep plans to globally launch a new SUV on a Tata Motors platform by 2028

Stellantis also announced a major strategic expansion, deepening its 20-year partnership with Tata Motors to develop a next-generation Jeep SUV. The new model will be based on a highly competitive, localized architecture from Tata Motors, unveiled during the automotive conglomerate’s investor presentation, and widely speculated to be the flexible, multi-fuel ARGOS platform. The vehicle is slated for launch in 2028 and will be developed and manufactured at the partners’ common joint-venture facility in Ranjangaon, India.

This collaboration directly supports Stellantis’ goal to shift to a “asset-light” manufacturing model, while significantly increasing regional affordability and market penetration. Jeep will leverage Tata’s existing local supply chains, engineering scale and cost structures to aggressively take on fierce competition in price-sensitive emerging markets. The new SUV is not just for the Indian market, it’s for the world with Stellantis planning to sell the India-built vehicle in more than 50 countries around the world.
