President Droupadi Murmu yesterday presented the Padma Awards to several actors and athletes, including Prosenjit Chatterjee and Harmanpreet Kaur. However, Rohit Sharma was not present at this ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Even though Mumbai Indians have bowed out of the IPL, many cricket fans are surprised that Rohit did not arrive to receive the honor.
It is worth noting that the names of the Padma Award recipients were announced past January 26. The list included the names of two cricketers—Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet and former men’s team captain Rohit. Murmu honors the nominees from various fields at Rashtrapati Bhavan. However, there is no specific single day for presenting the Padma Awards. Recipients can choose a day independently according to their convenience. Rohit had set his date to receive this award after the conclusion of the IPL, which is why he was absent yesterday.
