On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Spearhead Division under the Spear Corps organised a series of environment-focused activities across Tuting, Boraroopak, and Sigar in Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming the Indian Army’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, Army personnel, and local residents. Various activities, including tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and poster-making competitions, were conducted to promote environmental awareness and encourage responsible stewardship of natural resources.
Army personnel joined hands with school students and teachers in tree plantation and cleanliness drives, highlighting the shared responsibility of preserving the region’s rich ecological heritage. In Tuting, students showcased their creativity and environmental awareness through a poster-making competition focused on sustainability and environmental protection.
As part of the initiative, troops stationed at Boraroopak carried out a large-scale tree plantation programme aimed at increasing green cover and fostering environmental responsibility. Similar activities in Sigar further reinforced the importance of conservation and community participation in protecting the environment for future generations.
The events served as an effective platform to spread awareness about environmental sustainability while strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and local communities. These initiatives reflect the Indian Army’s continued commitment to nation-building, community engagement, and the preservation of Arunachal Pradesh’s rich natural heritage.
