An improvised explosive device (IED) explosion targeted an Assam Rifles vehicles on the Shokhuvi-Chümoukedima road in Nagaland’s Chumukedima district. today, killing one personnel and injuring four others.
The personnel belonged to Assam Rifles Training Centre.
Defence PRO, Kohima, confirmed that one security personnel died in the incident, while four others sustained injuries.
This follows a deadly July 6 ambush in Manipur where militants killed two Assam Rifles soldiers, prompting massive joint search operations across the region.
The today’s blast occurred at around 2 pm and the IED was suspected to be kept inside an autorickshaw.
All the injured have been rushed to a nearby referral hospital.
Police, Assam Rifles personnel and civil officials have reached to the spot and began an investigation. However, it is yet to be ascertained who is behind this attack. Further details are awarded.
