Not a single vote or a single seat will be given to forces that are against the NDA alliance and are against the development of the state and the interests of the common people in the upcoming Village Committee (VC) election.
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said this on Tuesday while presiding over an important meeting of the NDA allies—BJP, Tipra Motha, and IPFT—of Naithungchhara, Dewa RF, Kanchanchhara, and West Machhli Gram Sabhas at Manu in Dhalai district, keeping the upcoming Village Committee election in mind. On that day, the Minister also held a meeting with the active workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Ambassa.
The Minister said that the Village Committee election is going to be held after a long gap of 10 years. Therefore, this election is extremely important. Although voting is usually conducted through EVMs, this time voting will be conducted through ballot papers. The Village Committee and Panchayat elections are the most important elections at the local level and at the grassroots level. The process of this election is also extremely complex.
He said that earlier, in the TTAADC election, the three parties had fought separately. That too was part of the party’s strategy. But this time the situation is different. BJP, Tipra Motha, and IPFT have decided to fight the Village Committee election jointly.
Ratan Lal Nath said that all three parties are part of the state government and as representatives of the government, they are working together. Even after seat-sharing, there are some problems or shortcomings in various places. This meeting has been held with the aim of identifying those issues and resolving them.
He further said, “Our main objective is that those who are opponents of the NDA alliance, no matter which party they belong to—Congress, CPI(M), or any other party that is against the NDA and those who do not want the development of the state—should not get a single seat, not a single vote.”
The Minister said, “Some believe in capitalism, some believe in communism. But the NDA alliance gives importance to the development of common people and the welfare of people in the last line of society. We are not confined to any specific ideology. Our goal is to ensure the development of people at the farthest end of society. So our main goal in this election is that those who are against the interests of the people and the development of the state should not get public support in any way.”
Present in the meeting were BJP Vice President Tapas Bhattacharjee, Minister Suklacharan Noatia from IPFT, Tipra Motha MLA Paul Dangsu, MDC Rabindra Debbarma, and MDC Hollywood Chakma. Other district and local leaders of BJP, IPFT, and Tipra Motha were also present in the meeting.
