Assam BJP has intensified its electoral campaign for the Nagaon Lok Sabha bye-election, with Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah and Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika addressing poll rallies on Sunday.
Jayanta Malla Baruah sounded the poll bugle in Raha and Pijush Hazarika addressed a massive election rally at Lahorighat. Addressing an election meeting organised at the Tulsi Deuri Public Hall under the Pachimaria Jamandari Mandal of the Raha Assembly constituency, Malla Baruah asserted that Assam’s ongoing development had gained unprecedented momentum under the combined leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the state. Baruah maintained that the present pace of development had been made possible by the BJP-led government at the Centre and by the leadership of a Chief Minister whom he described as capable, farsighted and committed to accelerating Assam’s transformation. Recalling the state’s development trajectory under successive Congress governments, the Finance Minister contended that prolonged Congress rule had left Assam significantly behind in several critical areas.
He urged the voters to turn the October 6 bye-election into a decisive mandate for the NDA and cast their votes in favour of NDA candidate Debashish Sharma on the lotus symbol.
The BJP’s campaign received further momentum in the Lahorighat Assembly constituency, where Pijush Hazarika addressed a massive election rally at the Nagabandha Playground. Addressing the gathering, Hazarika called upon voters to become active participants in what he described as the development journey being led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. He urged the electorate to consolidate behind the NDA candidate, Debashish Sharma, and ensure his victory by a decisive margin in the forthcoming bye-election.
The campaign also witnessed the participation of MLA Ramakanta Deuri and MLA Pallab Lochan Das, who, after attending the morning broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat, took part in meetings at various polling booths across the Morigaon constituency.
With senior leaders fanning out across the constituencies and grassroots mobilisation gathering pace, the BJP and its allies are seeking to convert the ongoing development narrative into a strong electoral mandate for the NDA in the Nagaon Lok Sabha bye-election. (EOM)
