Sacred Buddha Relics to Be Displayed in Bomdila from November 8

The sacred relics of Kapilavastu, preserved at the National Museum in New Delhi, will be displayed at Thubchog Gatsel Ling (TGL) Monastery in Bomdila from November 8 to 13, as part of a statewide exposition programme in Arunachal Pradesh.

Speaking at a preparatory meeting, Kalaktang MLA Tseten Chombay described the exposition as a highly auspicious occasion and urged the public to seek blessings from the holy relics. He also called on all concerned departments and authorities to work with dedication to ensure the successful conduct of the event.

Chombay further appealed for slaughterhouses across the region to remain closed during the exposition period, stating that the sacred relics should be revered as the living presence of Lord Buddha among the people.

West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar informed the meeting that the TGL Monastery had been selected as the venue following the recommendations of the Advance Security Liaison (ASL) team of the Union Culture Ministry.

Tenzin Jorden, a member of the expert committee and state coordinator of the exposition, termed the event a significant and auspicious occasion for the people of the region. He said the teachings of universal peace and compassion associated with Lord Buddha should reach the wider world.

He also appealed to residents to hoist Buddhist flags at their homes during the six-day exposition as a mark of respect for the sacred relics.

Thrizino MLA Tenzin Nyima Glow expressed gratitude to the ASL team for its support in facilitating the event.

The meeting was attended by West Kameng SP Dr Dorjee Wangdi Thongon, heads of departments, members of the Monpa Mimang Tsokpa and the Bomdila Buddhist Society, along with senior monks from Gontse Gaden Rabgye Ling and TGL monasteries.

According to sources, the exposition of the sacred Buddha relics will be held in three locations across Arunachal Pradesh: Tawang from November 1 to 7, Bomdila from November 8 to 13, and Namsai from November 14 to 20.
