Shabdoghar Extends Support to Flood-Hit Women of Sivasagar With 100 Bodhon Borondalas

Literary and cultural organisation Shabdoghar celebrated the fourth edition of ‘Bodhon 1433’ at the Guwahati Press Club, marking the beginning of the auspicious Devi Paksha. The event was centered on the theme “Sajabo Jotone Ma-ke” (Adoring the Mother) and carried a message of awakening inner consciousness and fostering a greener, more compassionate world.

The programme began with a welcome address by Parmita Nag, Founder and Editor of Shabdoghar, who called upon people to reconnect with their inner values and work towards protecting the environment. Madhurima Baruah, President of Shabdoghar, highlighted the organisation’s vision and future initiatives.

As part of its annual tradition, Shabdoghar honoured ten women from different walks of life with the prestigious “Amar Durga Samman 2026”, recognising their silent yet significant contributions to society.

Adding a humanitarian dimension to the celebration, Shabdoghar pledged to support women affected by Assam’s devastating floods. Through a local NGO in Sivasagar, the organisation delivered 100 ‘Bodhon Borondalas’ to women of Nepali Khuti village. Each tray carried the inspiring message, “You are as beautiful as life.”

The ceremonial lamp was lit by noted environmentalist Mubina Akhtar, Aparna Dev, Panna Bharali, Dr. Soumen Bharatiya, Bikash Sarkar, Sanjay Chakraborty, Rajarshi Saha, Ujjwal Bhowmik, and Kajal Dev.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of “Bodhon Sharadiya Sankalan 1433”, a special festive literary anthology that brings together Bengali and Assamese languages and cultures.

The audience also appreciated a thought-provoking audio-literary presentation titled “The Awakening: Jagabar Din Aaj”, written and directed by Parmita Nag. The performance featured voices of Madhurima Baruah, Chhanda Karpuraystha, Mousumi Bhattacharyya, Rupa Bhattacharyya, Piyali Rakshit, and Parmita Nag. Musical ambience was provided by Prasun Ghosh, while Sudipa Bhattacharyya conducted the programme.

Among the distinguished guests present were Dr. Soumen Bharatiya, poet Sanjay Chakraborty, Jugasankha editor Bikash Sarkar, Ujjwal Bhowmik, Rajarshi Saha, and Mukta Biswas.

The recipients of Amar Durga Samman 2026 were environmentalist and wildlife conservationist Mubina Akhtar, social worker and writer Aparna Dev, Panna Bharali of Dibrugarh Cancer and Palliative Trust, Dr. Snigdha Chetia, classical dancer Anjanamoyi Saikia, Dr. Alpana Choudhury, social worker and blogger Aparna Hazarika, poet Komalika Majumdar, sculptor Dipika Pal, and courageous homemaker Sampa Biswas.

Through Bodhon 1433, Shabdoghar once again called upon society to awaken its collective conscience and work towards preserving human values, environmental sustainability, and social harmony.
