ICICI Life Insurance Limited plans to recruit 20,000 women advisors across India by the end of FY2027 under its Narishakti initiative, as the insurer looks to expand its distribution network and strengthen customer outreach.
Announced during Navratri, the recruitment target marks the second anniversary of the initiative, launched in 2024 to help women become financial planners without upfront investment.
As of September 30, 2026, the company had more than 78,000 women advisors, accounting for around 32% of its total advisor base but contributing approximately 45% of its agency business. Their contribution has exceeded 50% in Bengaluru, Kerala and Mumbai, highlighting their role in the company’s distribution performance. Around 47% of its women advisors have been associated with the insurer for more than 10 years.
Amish Banker, Chief Distribution Officer of ICICI Life Insurance Limited, said, “We, at ICICI Life Insurance, firmly believe that ‘Talent has no gender’.”
He attributed women’s contribution to their understanding of customer needs, empathy, commitment, loyalty and problem-solving abilities, which help build long-term relationships in insurance.
The company said Narishakti provides training and support to homemakers, salaried professionals and businesswomen, offering flexible working schedules to balance professional and family responsibilities. The expansion is also intended to support the government’s vision of “Insurance for All by 2047” by widening insurance access and strengthening financial protection for families nationwide.
