In line with India’s vision to expand equitable healthcare access under regional development policies, Global Health Limited (Medanta) has announced the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony for its upcoming 400-bed super-specialty hospital at Sarusajai Industrial Estate, Guwahati, on October 31, 2025. The ceremony will be graced by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director, Medanta, and Mr. Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO, along with senior state officials and community leaders.
The project supports Assam’s policy focus on healthcare infrastructure and employment generation, while also attracting private sector participation in high-value medical services. The hospital will offer advanced tertiary and quaternary care, including robotic surgeries, transplant programs, and integrated diagnostic services. “Medanta’s entry into the Northeast aims to bridge the healthcare gap and make advanced, high-quality medical care more accessible to the people of Assam and neighbouring states,” said Dr. Trehan.
The investment is expected to reshape the regional healthcare supply chain, offering stronger referral linkages and reducing the need for outbound medical travel. As a key economic hub in Upper Assam, Dibrugarh will benefit from improved healthcare access, ancillary service growth, and policy-driven integration with Guwahati’s expanding medical ecosystem. The initiative underscores the government’s and private sector’s shared commitment to inclusive, policy-aligned healthcare growth in the Northeast.
