The e-challan system was launched at the District Transport Office in Dimapur to enhance transparency, accountability, and road safety by electronically detecting and penalizing traffic violations, thereby replacing paper-based processes. Commissioner Robert Longchari highlighted that this shift to digital enforcement would reduce manipulation and improve efficiency in traffic management, marking a significant step towards clean governance. He noted that inter-departmental collaboration was crucial for the system’s success and emphasized that the e-challan platform would promote compliance with traffic rules. The government plans to extend the system statewide and integrate automatic surveillance cameras. This initiative supports evidence-based policymaking in the transport sector and aligns with the vision of “Viksit Nagaland,” aiming to modernize traffic enforcement in the region.
