In a significant operation, Itanagar Police dismantled an interstate child trafficking ring between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, rescuing three minor girls and apprehending six suspects. The investigation was prompted by the discovery of a severely injured seven-year-old girl in Itanagar, who disclosed abuse and exploitation after receiving counseling at a support center. The police registered a case under various legal provisions following a complaint from the Child Welfare Committee. Raids revealed a systematic trafficking operation, where children were sold without legal procedures and forced into domestic labor, often lacking education and basic rights. Notably, some arrested were biological parents. Efforts continue to locate two missing minors and trace the extent of the trafficking network. The rescued children are now in shelter homes for rehabilitation.
