Akzo Nobel India Renamed JSW Dulux After Regulatory Approval

Paints and coatings manufacturer Akzo Nobel India has officially changed its name to JSW Dulux after receiving approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), the company said in a regulatory filing.
The MCA issued a fresh Certificate of Incorporation dated March 11, 2026, confirming the company’s new identity as JSW Dulux Ltd. The change is effective immediately and reflects the company’s transition following its acquisition by JSW Paints.
With the approval in place, the company’s Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association have also been updated to reflect the new corporate name.
The renaming comes after JSW Paints, part of the $23-billion JSW Group, acquired a 60.76 percent stake in Akzo Nobel India in December 2025. The acquisition was completed through a share purchase agreement with Imperial Chemical Industries Limited and Akzo Nobel Coatings International BV.
Following the deal, JSW Paints became the promoter and holding company of the Indian paints business.
The board of Akzo Nobel India had earlier approved the proposal to change the company’s name to JSW Dulux at a meeting held on January 28, 2026, subject to regulatory clearance.
Industry observers say the rebranding signals a strategic shift as JSW Paints strengthens its presence in India’s competitive paints sector. By integrating the well-known Dulux brand with the JSW group identity, the company aims to expand its market reach and strengthen brand positioning.
The move is expected to support the company’s long-term growth strategy in the decorative paints and coatings market, where competition among major players continues to intensify.
The transition to the new name marks a significant milestone in the company’s evolution as it enters a new phase under the leadership of JSW Paints.
