Reckitt strengthens Bihar sanitation ecosystem with ‘Power of 8’ model launch in Motihari

Reckitt has expanded its hygiene and sanitation footprint in Bihar with the launch of the “Harpic Safe Sanitation Programme – Bihar Chapter” in Motihari, East Champaran, signalling growing corporate participation in community-led sanitation and public health infrastructure initiatives. Launched under the company’s flagship Dettol Banega Swasth India programme in partnership with Jagran Pehel, the initiative introduces the “Power of 8” service-led sanitation model aimed at improving long-term hygiene outcomes through structured community engagement and data-driven monitoring systems.

The programme was launched in the presence of Radha Mohan Singh along with senior district officials and civic authorities in Motihari. The initiative includes scheduled cleaning systems, dedicated sanitation funding, trained manpower, supervision mechanisms, hygiene infrastructure support, drain de-clogging, live tracking tools and evidence-based sanitation management. Market observers say rising investments in sanitation services and hygiene awareness programmes are creating new opportunities in the public health and community infrastructure segment, particularly in states such as Bihar where demand for scalable sanitation solutions continues to grow.

Reckitt said trained sanitation entrepreneurs from the Harpic World Toilet College will be deployed under the programme, creating local livelihood opportunities while strengthening sanitation delivery systems. The company plans to further expand the programme across Bihar through long-term institutional partnerships.
