Indian Institute of Technology Madras has opened admissions for its BS Degree Programmes for the 2026 academic cycle, with applications open till May 31, amid rising demand for flexible and industry-aligned higher education models in India’s evolving job market. The institute is offering four programmes — BS in Data Science and Applications, BS in Electronic Systems, BS in Management and Data Science, and BS in Aeronautics and Space Technology — aimed at learners seeking future-ready skills in technology, analytics, management, and emerging sectors.
The programmes are open to anyone who has completed Class 12, with no age restrictions, and do not require candidates to clear the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Admissions are conducted through a qualifier process, widening access to IIT education for students across diverse academic and economic backgrounds. IIT Madras said the programmes can be pursued alongside regular undergraduate courses such as BCom, BSc, BBA, and Engineering, reflecting growing market demand for multidisciplinary and data-driven skill sets. Courses are delivered primarily online, with physical examinations held across India.
Prof. Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses), IIT Madras, said the programmes are designed to combine flexibility with IIT-level academic quality and improve career opportunities for students. The institute also offers fee support of up to 75 per cent for eligible economically disadvantaged learners. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Madras BS admissions portal.
