The mortal remains of Tripura Director General of Police Anurag were taken from his official residence to the State Secretariat in Agartala on Tuesday where Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu and Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with ministers, MLAs and senior officials paid their final respects.
Speaking to the media later, Chief Minister Manik Saha described Anurag as a dedicated, efficient and humble officer.
He said the state has suffered an irreparable loss and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family, praying for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Earlier in the day, the late DGP was accorded ceremonial honours at the Police Headquarters.
Acting Director General of Police G.S. Rao, senior police officers and personnel paid their last respects.
Rao said the entire Tripura Police force is deeply saddened by Anurag’s untimely demise.
The mortal remains were later flown from Agartala to Delhi and will be taken by road to his native place in Uttar Pradesh, where the last rites will be performed tomorrow.
Senior police officers, including IG (Law and Order) Manchak Ipper and SP (Traffic) Kanta Jangir, accompanied the final journey.
