The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) has extended its support to the demand raised by the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) seeking changes in the document requirements for recruitment conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB). The PPA said documents such as the Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) certificate and Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) should have been made mandatory from the beginning for all recruitment processes in the state.
The party pointed out that Arunachal Pradesh is a 100 per cent tribal state and said the requirement of such documents was important to ensure that recruitment processes remained aligned with the state’s special demographic and constitutional context. The PPA said that although the issue had been raised at a later stage, AAPSU and other organisations had brought it up at an appropriate time. The party said the demand deserved consideration in the interest of ensuring clarity and consistency in recruitment procedures conducted by the state’s recruiting agencies. The party also expressed hope that the state government, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, would accept the recommendations of the high-power committee constituted to examine the issue.
The PPA urged the government to issue the necessary notification after considering the committee’s recommendations so that the revised requirements could be implemented by the APPSC and APSSB. The party said clear rules regarding eligibility and documentation would help avoid confusion among applicants and provide greater certainty in future recruitment examinations and selection processes conducted in the state.
