Royal Enfield has officially confirmed the launch date of its upcoming Himalayan 440. The new adventure bike will make its debut in India on September 4, 2026, and will sit below the Himalayan 450 in the company’s motorcycle range.
The Himalayan 440 is expected to be derived from the Scram 440, but Royal Enfield is likely to make several changes to give it a more adventure-focused character. One of the biggest differences could be the wheel setup. The Scram 440 gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, while the Himalayan 440 is expected to feature a 21-inch spoke front wheel.
Suspension hardware is also expected to be based on the Scram 440. The latter uses telescopic forks with 190mm of travel, while the Himalayan 440 could get around 200mm of front suspension travel.The feature list is expected to be simpler than that of the Himalayan 450. The larger motorcycle comes with a TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and USD forks. The Himalayan 440 could get a more basic analogue instrument cluster, with Royal Enfield’s Tripper pod offered on higher variants.
The motorcycle is likely to be powered by the LS400 engine that also powers the Scram 440. In its current application, the engine delivers 25.4hp and 34Nm of torque and comes paired with a 6-speed transmission.The engine also produces 2Nm more torque than the Himalayan 411’s powertrain, thanks to a 3mm increase in bore. The exact specifications and pricing of the Himalayan 440 are expected to be revealed closer to its September 4 launch.
