A spell of heavy downpour has once again turned the ‘Smart City’ Guwahati into an ocean! Continuous rainfall since morning has resulted in severe artificial flooding. Due to heavy rain, waterlogging at the 9th Mile, 10th Mile and Jorabat areas of National Highway 27 has completely disrupted vehicular movement on both sides of the road.
Keeping the situation in mind, the traffic police have promptly arranged alternative routes for small motor vehicles. As per this advisory, vehicles entering Guwahati are being diverted from Digaru to another direction. Similarly, vehicles exiting Guwahati are being directed by the administration from the Koinadhara point through designated routes.
The departmental authorities have advised drivers travelling outside to use the alternative route via Narengi. To ensure that passengers and drivers can easily get information about these changed routes, the traffic department is also issuing precautionary notices through social media platforms like Facebook and ‘X’.
