The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is scheduled to make its India debut on September 4, 2026. Royal Enfield recently announced the date on its official Instagram page. The motorcycle will slot into the company’s adventure lineup below the Himalayan 450 and will mark the return of the Himalayan name in a smaller-capacity format after the Himalayan 411 was discontinued in 2023.
The Himalayan 440 is expected to use the Royal Enfield Scram 440 as its base, although the new motorcycle could receive several changes to make it more capable off-road. Unlike the Scram 440’s 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination, the Himalayan 440 is expected to get a 21-inch spoke front wheel.
Suspension components could also be carried over from the Scram 440. The latter uses telescopic front forks offering 190mm of travel, while the Himalayan 440 is likely to feature a longer 200mm travel setup at the front.
The new motorcycle is expected to miss out on some of the premium equipment available with the Himalayan 450. The larger model comes with USD forks, a TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. In comparison, the Himalayan 440 could feature an analogue instrument cluster, with the Tripper pod expected to be offered with the higher variants.
Under the fuel tank, the Himalayan 440 is likely to use Royal Enfield’s LS400 engine, which is also found in the Scram 440. The engine is paired with a six-speed transmission and produces 25.4hp along with 34Nm of peak torque.
The LS400 also benefits from a 3mm larger bore compared with the Himalayan 411’s engine, helping it deliver 2Nm more torque. The same engine is expected to power the Himalayan 440 when it arrives next month.
