India explores measures to ease visa hurdles for Bangladeshi applicants

Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi has said that the Indian High Commission is examining visa-related difficulties faced by Bangladeshi applicants and exploring measures to facilitate the process, particularly for patients travelling to India for medical treatment.

Trivedi gave the assurance during a meeting with a 10-member delegation of the Indian Media Correspondents’ Association, Bangladesh (IMCAB), at the High Commission’s conference hall in Baridhara on Thursday. The meeting began at 11.30 am.

The delegation was headed by IMCAB president Shaheen Chowdhury and general secretary Masum Billah, who raised concerns over difficulties in obtaining Indian visas.

Responding to the issues, the High Commissioner said the mission was examining the challenges faced by applicants, including delays in securing direct submission slots after completing online visa applications. He said officials were trying to identify the reasons behind the delays and expressed hope that the problem would be resolved soon.

He also stressed that greater movement of people between India and Bangladesh would help strengthen friendship and bilateral ties.

During the interaction, Trivedi enquired about the health of each member of the visiting delegation.

Other IMCAB members present were Basudev Dhar, Kuddus Afrad, Mir Afroz Zaman, Abu Ali, Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, Nirmal Chakraborty, Zakir Hossain and Monir Hossain. Gokul VK, First Secretary of the Indian High Commission, also attended the meeting.
