In a major development for West Bengal’s industrial landscape, JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal met Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at Nabanna, the state secretariat, to discuss investment opportunities worth an estimated ₹50,000 crore. The meeting marked the first official sit-down between Jindal and Chief Minister Adhikari since the latter assumed office, focusing on strategic developments across key sectors, including power, power systems, ports, cement, and steel. Describing the evening session as “very good,” Jindal highlighted that the core of the group’s expansion plan includes a ₹40,000 crore commitment dedicated specifically to the power sector, while the remaining ₹10,000 crore will be channeled into other key operational areas. Following the discussions, Chief Minister Adhikari announced that Sajjan Jindal had committed to performing the groundbreaking bhoomipujan ceremony for the second unit of the company’s power plant in the first week of January. The ongoing development stems from work initiated in April 2025 on a 1,600-megawatt power plant located at Salboni in the Paschim Medinipur district. That ₹16,000 crore project stands as the largest greenfield facility in JSW Energy’s portfolio and represents the biggest private thermal power investment in West Bengal, alongside the foundation of the JSW Industrial Park featuring plug-and-play infrastructure. With multi-sector projects now gaining strong momentum under the comprehensive ₹50,000 crore investment blueprint, JSW Group is poised to play a transformative role in driving industrial growth, energy capacity, and infrastructure expansion across the state.
