PM inaugurates Rs 4,027 crore clean energy and manufacturing projects, boost Bihar’s industrial growth

The Prime Minister inaugurated a series of high-impact projects in Bihar’s petroleum and natural gas sector on November 13, marking a ₹4,027 crore investment aimed at sustainable energy and domestic production. These projects, aligned with India’s Make in India initiative, focus on delivering clean energy to households and industries, enhancing infrastructure, and reducing dependency on imports.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) launched a ₹3,638 crore City Gas Distribution (CGD) network, covering the districts of Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar. The network will bring piped natural gas (PNG) to households and businesses, supporting government objectives for cleaner fuel use. Additionally, new CNG stations and a dedicated carbon steel pipeline from Begusarai will strengthen the energy supply chain across Bihar.

Darbhanga, recognized as a growing economic hub, stands to benefit greatly from the CGD project. Local businesses in the Darbhanga market now have access to reliable and eco-friendly fuel sources, which reduces operational costs and supports sustainable growth. This development is expected to catalyze commercial expansion, establishing Darbhanga as a leader in Bihar’s economic landscape. Further enhancing local manufacturing, a ₹389 crore Bitumen Manufacturing Unit at Indian Oil’s Barauni Refinery will support major infrastructure projects by providing domestically produced bitumen, reducing imports, and preserving foreign exchange.
