Ambuja Cements, Adani Foundation strengthen rural connectivity in Assam’s Umrangso

Ambuja Cements, the world’s ninth largest building materials solutions provider and part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, along with the Adani Foundation, has improved rural connectivity in Umrangso in Assam’s Dima Hasao district by restoring a key connecting road between Tharvelangso and Borolokhindong villages.

The initiative involved the restoration of a 2.5-km stretch that had severely deteriorated over the years, making travel difficult and affecting mobility, safety and livelihoods of local residents. The poor condition of the road had posed challenges for daily commuting, access to essential services and the transportation of agricultural produce.

Responding to the needs of the community, the Adani Foundation undertook critical patchwork restoration of the road to improve accessibility and ensure smoother movement for villagers.

With the improved infrastructure, residents are now experiencing safer and more reliable all-weather travel. Schoolchildren can commute more comfortably, villagers are able to access nearby services more efficiently and farmers can transport their produce to markets with greater ease.

Around 157 villagers are currently benefiting from the improved connectivity, which has also strengthened access to essential services and market linkages.
