In a significant advancement for land resource management and sustainable development in Nagaland, the Department of Land Resources (DoLR) and the Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NePED) signed Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs) during a ceremony at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall in Kohima. The keynote address was delivered by V. Shashank Shekhar, Additional Chief Secretary and Mission Director of ELEMENT, who emphasized the critical nature of inter-departmental collaboration for successful development initiatives. He pointed out key project areas, including springshed development, research and development to drive economic growth, and human resource development for sustainability. Additional remarks were made by Hukato N, Additional Director of Land Resources, and Kovi Meyase, Team Leader of NePED, stressing the importance of coordinated efforts to enhance land-based livelihoods and sustainable land-use practices. The event was chaired by Kumar Ramnikant, Secretary of Industries and Commerce and Project Director of ELEMENT. The signing concluded with Limanenla, Joint Secretary of Agriculture, providing details about the project, which has an estimated total cost of Rs 574.63 crore, will span five years, and cover 22 villages in 16 districts.
