Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein conducted a review of small hydro power projects led by Hydropower Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Limited (HPDCAPL), emphasizing the need for progress on both ongoing and proposed initiatives within the state. Key projects discussed included the Sumbachu and Taksang Chu Small Hydro Power Projects located in Tawang. The review focused on construction milestones, electro-mechanical work, inter-departmental coordination, and site-specific challenges that could hinder timely completion of the projects. Additionally, the readiness of other projects assigned to HPDCAPL was evaluated, alongside the development of a roadmap aimed at accelerating implementation while prioritizing environmental responsibility and local community involvement. Mein highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering HPDCAPL as a pivotal agency for clean and decentralized energy, thereby enhancing Arunachal Pradesh’s long-term energy security through responsible hydropower development.
